SJ TECHNICAL TRAINING PARTNERS WITH CUMBERLAND REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TO CREATE NEW SKILLED TRADES CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
South Jersey Technical Training & Apprenticeship, LLC and Cumberland Regional High School, welcomed rising seniors and their family members at a celebration of the CRHS Skilled Trades Certification Program, marking the official kick-off of Cumberland Regional’s newest future-facing offerings.
“Our Skilled Trades Certification programs will provide a clear path to career advancement for students who want to secure a fulfilling, well-paying job straight out of high school without taking on college debt,” said Cumberland Regional Superintendent Carl Dolente.
“We are so proud and excited to have been able to partner with CRHS to get this program going,” SJ Technical Training CEO Kortney Guth said. “Giving these students the opportunity to begin learning a trade before graduating high school provides so many opportunities for growth. We can’t wait to get started with the first group of students on this wonderful program.”
The CRHS Skilled Trades Certification programs have accepted inaugural cohorts of 30 students for the electrical program and 15 students for an HVAC program that will be conducted in partnership with EnviroSafe, a Pittsgrove-based heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and water treatment services provider.
The students will complete coursework as part of their senior-year curriculum at CRHS, as well as hands-on training in collaboration with South Jersey Technical and EnviroSafe, during the 2022-2023 school year. Students will have the opportunity to earn EPA-approved Section 608 Technician Certification or Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Safety 10-Hour and OSHA Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout) certifications, necessary for entry into the HVAC and electrical industries, respectively.
